China National Postal and Telecommunications Appliances Corporation is a large state-owned enterprise managed by State Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. The main businesses include the sales and logistics support for communications terminals, communications construction projects, international trade and exhibition. In 2004, the Corporation had a registered asset of 8.3 billion RMB, among which 1.8 billion was net asset and the total sales revenue in the year was 15 billion. Headquartered in Beijing, the Corporation has 12 wholly owned subsidiaries, several enterprises in which it has majority of shares, some joint ventures and partner enterprises in which it has interests.

In the sales of communications terminals, the Corporation realized the sales of more than 12 million mobile phones last year. Since 1999, in 6 consecutive years, its sales of mobile phone terminal accounted for more than 20% of the newly-added domestic mobile subscribers. The annual sales figure of mobile phone was 2 million, and that of PHS phones reached more than 1 million. In addition, we also sold communications products such as fax machines, automobiles, instruments etc.

Thanks to the transformation of thinking, change of strategy, and the exploration of new businesses, the Corporation maintained a stable and sustainable development in international trade and logistics services in recent years.

In light of the communications construction, the Corporation has a subsidiary named "China International Telecom Construction Corporation" which is a first class, comprehensive, communications construction enterprise that has the largest capacity, strongest implementation capability, highest technological competence in China. It also shoulders the responsibility in exploring overseas businesses. In a year, it will participate in 2600 and more communications construction work, 5000 and more design work, more than 200 construction supervisions, with a quality test passing-rate of 100% among which 96% are of very good quality. Domestically, it accounts for 8% of the total communications construction market, ranking at the top in this area.

In terms of international exhibition, the Corporation is responsible for sponsoring the "PT/EXPO COMM CHINA" which is the largest and most influential in Asia. In 2004, 600 and more organizations from 23 countries come to the exhibition, and the floor space for the exhibition reached 55,000 square meters with the subjects covering all areas of today's telecommunications industry. Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice President Zeng Qinghong, Vice Premier Huang Ju, State Councilor Chen Zhili and other leaders visited the exhibition, and more than 300,000 people from all walks of life attended the show.

The Corporation is the largest one in terms of communications terminal sales as well as communications construction. The international communications exhibition it has sponsored is one of the four largest exhibitions in China. Excellent achievement and good credibility give PTAC the honor of being ranked by Beijing Customs and cooperating banks as AAA class enterprise.
